| Widowed Mrs. Saraswati Batra (Waheeda Rehman) has brought up three sons with a lot of care and love. Her eldest son Om (Anil Kapoor) is very honest and diligent; her two other sons Jai (Fardeen Khan), and Jagdish (Abhishek Bachchan) also live in the same house. Om looks after the family, and also looks after the business and the estate. Jai's interest is fast cars, and to the much disappointment of his family, decides to re-locate the United States of America, and gets married to a rich and snobish girl, Neetu (Urmilla Matondkar). Her mother (Lilette Dubey) strongly disapproves of Jai, and vehemently, though in vain, opposes the marriage. To make matters worse, Jai gets a job in the U.S. in a vehicle junkyard, much to the horror of his wife and his family. Jai must use this junkyard so that he can make the fastest car in the world. Jagdish is the spoiled brat of the family. He gets into trouble with the law, when he starts hacking computer data. This brings shame on the entire family, and causes a loss of goodwill and profits, and results in the takeover of the estate by Shekhar Malhota, a close friend of the family. Now all the three brothers, their respective wives, and Mrs. Batra herself will have to come together to try and salvage what they can of their family business and estate. That is if they find time to do so from their very own personal problems and commitments. |

Though released amidst tremendous speculation, and surrounded by controversy thanks to the recently released Salman-Aishwarya tape, MPKK still comes out as the single hottest release this summer. So, does it have the same magic as last year’s David-Salman smash hit Mujhse Shaadi Karogi? Does it have enough laughs to tickle your funny bone for its 2 and half hour duration?

The film has obviously been inspired by Paranormal Activity, the cult horror film that created waves with its grainy hand-held video footage. But rest assured, there is such a strong desi flavour to the film, you rarely end up thinking of the Hollywood indie film.
Ragini and Uday make an interesting couple. She's the fragile uptown girl, unabashed about expressing her sexual demands. While he's the desi boy who sprinkles his conversation with gaalis and cuss words and is no-nakhra about his hormonal rage. Also, he has no qualms about exploiting the pretty young thing who trusts him completely. Why should he? He's been promised a film career if he delivers: dream fulfilled for wannabe stars....
Most of the action transpires within the closed doors of the spooky house, where the lights come and go, the stairs unnecessarily creep and shadows flit across, when no one's looking. The chills factory gets in overdrive when the ghost decides to make her presence felt and begins to yank hair, fling bodies, and wound flesh in the middle of the foreplay.
The horror does work in places, although the persistent dim light and the grainy video effect tend to get a bit irksome. But the realistic performances by the lead pair more than make up for the lapses.
Watch it for its novelty and for the fact that Ragini MMS makes a heady cocktail of sex and horror that's so very different from run-of-the-mill Bollywood.

The plot for “Baghban” was actually conceived around thirty years ago and Ravi Chopra had planned to have the title role enacted by Dilip Kumar. The plans fell through at that time and it is only now that he dusted off his story idea and offered the role to Amitabh Bachchan. No matter how technically polished the film is, the essence of the story and screenplay is something that seems to have jumped straight out of the era of 1980’s family sagas.

Time Magnetics (India) Pvt. Ltd. return with another masala actioner after last year’s ‘The Hero’. This time it is the return of ‘chota bhai’ Bobby Deol to play the lead role in this Guddu Dhanoa directed flick (who delivered ‘Jaal’ with Sunny Deol and ‘Hawa’ with Tabu last year). And though Bobby Deol had a barren 2003, 2004 will see him in at least half a dozen films starting with ‘Kismat – Vicious Trap of Fate’. Also Priyanka Chopra gets to play the sole heroine for the first time in this film (she shared screen with Preity Zinta in ‘The Hero’, Lara Dutta in ‘Andaaz’ and Sameera Reddy in ‘Plan’). Combination of Anand Raj Anand and Dev Kohli handle the music department.
The story revolves around an orphan Tony (Bobby Deol) who has grown up on the streets after he was abandoned by his uncle and aunt in the city. To have to survive in the concrete jungle, Tony learned to live by his wit and courage. Right from petty theft to loan recovery, Tony did everything for a price.
After earning a handsome packet in a bout where he had to risk his life, Tony went with his friend to a musical show just to relax in the air-conditioned hall. He was woken up from his slumber by the singer on the stage, Sapna (Priyanka Chopra) ? a dream come true for Tony. He fell in love with Sapna and he started chasing his dream without realizing what an impossible dream it was. Tony was a roadside hoodlum while Sapna was a rising star in the show business and coming from a respectable family. It was Sapna who did not want to hurt him and tried to wake him up to face the reality.
She took him to Mr. Arjun Bhatia with whom her parents had fixed up her marriage and both the families were preparing for the wedding. Tony was heart-broken but not ready to give up on his dream yet. He thought he just needed to match up in status to ask for Sapna’s hand from her family, claiming to be better suitor than the doctor. For that, only money was required and he was ready to do anything to earn it. At that point of time, Tony got an offer through his regular underworld agent, to coerce a government officer into signing some papers. The money was good and the work was easy. Tony didn’t ask a second question. He went straight to the Drug and Food Administrator Dr. Khurana’s office and threatened to kill his family members if Khurana did not sign on the dotted line.
Little did he know that Dr. Khurana was Sapna’s father and his signature would allow the corrupt businessman Raj Mallya to release his spurious drugs in the market. The drugs that would eventually kill hundreds of innocent children and get Dr. Khurana convicted for life and the family ostracized from the society.
Tony realized he has ruined his own dream; he has erased the only rainbow of happiness that was there in the horizon of his life. It was because of him that Sapna’s father was behind the bars, which in turn had led to her mother’s suicide. He wanted to undo whatever he had done unknowingly. Shattered and traumatized, Sapna by now had become emotionally dependent on Tony. She had started loving him, so it was doubly difficult for Tony to accept his guilt in front of her. Yet he did that and set out to find out who was behind the spurious drugs. This made him confront people, with whom he had been working all these years and who were extremely dangerous.
Raj Mallya, the corporate kingpin, came to know that Tony was searching for facts. He ordered his men to eradicate him. Tony realized that until and unless he gets at his enemy first, they would not let him and Sapna live their lives. He also had to get a confession out of Raj Mallya in order to prove Sapna’s father innocent. How will he do that? Mustering up all his courage and ingenuity, street-smart Tony gets into the battle to save his love and life.
But what has Fate in store for him eventually? Does his Kismat lend him a helping hand?

Movie Review : This one is romance in reverse. And that's the only novelty the film can boast about. While most Bollywood love stories reach a fruition, Love Ka The End works feverishly -- and foolishly -- towards love's decimation.
It was an original idea which could have taken a fresh look at the spunky new generation that is thronging the big cities and small towns of progressing India. It's a sassy, smart, aggressive generation that won't take shit from anyone, come what may. Love obviously isn't about sweet sacrifices anymore. If things go wrong, the plan of action is swift revenge. And why not....
Great idea, poor execution: that's the irony of this film which promises to catapult Yash Raj productions as the MTV of the film industry. But hey, the nasty and brutish babalog of the sundry MTV reality shows still do bear some semblance to real GenXer's, despite their exaggerated brattish ways. Here, the bunch of college kids lack both IQ and EQ and hardly seem credible. Okay, so there are a bunch of richie rich playboys out there, waiting to prey upon innocent Red Riding Hoods for the sake of their prestige and peer pressure. Scumbag billionaire boy, Luv Nanda may treat love-struck Rhea's virginity as a commodity to bet upon. So far, so good. But when it comes to Rhea's revenge plan, the film gets so ditzy, you don't know if it's actually happening. Come on guys, our young adults are much smarter than pouring itching powder in underpants and all that under-the-belt stuff....Add to that the ridiculous climax and the much touted `mutton song' and you end up desperately sending an SOS to Yash Chopra.
Daag, Deewar, Kabhi Kabhie, Trishul, Silsila, Chandni, Darr, Dil To Paagal Hai, Veer Zaara, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge....Love Ka The End (these are some of the films produced by Yash Raj Films): Come back, Yashji!
The film scores only in some of its performances (Shraddha Kapoor's gang) and might appeal to young collegiates who want to miss a few boring tutorials.

gray zone of Law, crime & politics. Who does what, who wears a mask
and who comes out a winner is a suspense which cannot be predicted.
